Starting to Work: Opportunities to Watch and Learn

On Monday morning, our family headed to Allen and Diane's house to begin discussing what this internship will look like and what the requirements are (both requirements set by Village Missions and some additional ones set by Allen). It was very nice to finally be able to sit down and talk to them for the first time since our arrival!

After lunch, Chris went with Allen to meet with some other local pastors to talk and pray together, while I (Ronae) and the kids stayed behind with Diane. It was an opportunity for her to experience firsthand just how very BUSY (and ornery!) Josiah is! :) All joking aside, I really appreciated the time we had to talk more one-on-one.

On Tuesday, Chris got to observe a funeral for the first time from the pastor's perspective. While of course there was grieving, it was a good experience; the woman who died had lived a full life and had been faithful to the Lord, so her Homegoing was bittersweet.
That evening, Chris also was able to accompany Allen to a meeting with a person outside of the church who was seeking pastoral advice. It sounds like they will continue to meet with that person, and we pray that it would be a good opportunity to build relationships and be a witness for Christ.

Yesterday evening I got to take the kids to visit with one of our neighbors. They are a sweet older couple whose kids are grown. The man used to be a pastor. We didn't stay too long, but it was a good time of fellowship; I enjoyed the opportunity to get out of the house a little, and they enjoyed holding baby Charis and watching Josiah's energetic discoveries.

In just a few minutes I will be heading with Charis to a picnic for the women of the church while Josiah stays behind at home with Chris.

Hopefully soon Chris' office will be more put together so that he can use that space to work and study. He is currently working on building bookshelves to hold his book collection. I don't know that Josiah will be much help with that, but maybe he will at least take a good nap so Chris can get a lot done! ;)
