"So, where is your internship again?"

Location, location, location

As we await the birth of our daughter (probably next week) we would like to squeeze in one post that we hope will convey the geography of where our internship is located so that you have an idea of where we will be living for the next year or so.

The field name that Village Missions refers to where our mentors Allen and Diane serve is called North Montgomery - named after the school district. The picture below shows five small towns (red labels) that are all within North Montgomery.

Beginning lower left and going clockwise: Waynetown, Wingate, New Richmond, Linden, and Darlington.

Liberty Chapel (the church we will be serving in) is the blue label in center of all these small towns, not far from each of them. Liberty Chapel is located:
  • 7.8 miles from Waynetown
  • 8.2 miles from Wingate
  • 5.9 miles from New Richmond
  • 9.2 miles from Linden
  • 12.2 miles from Darlington
What is so unique about Village Missions' ministry through Liberty Chapel?

In one sense we are really only relaying to you what we know and not what we have experienced - since we only visited this area once (two weeks ago). But what we have learned shows that for years Liberty Chapel has been making dynamic strides to reach out to lots of people in these small rural towns. Some of these small towns have no church presence, others of them have no vital outreach to the community, frequent turnover in the pastorate, or yet others a very liberal theology in the pulpit. Through the missionary efforts of VM these small towns have a local church pastor and his wife who have invested themselves in the congregation and the community for over thirty years.

Crawfordsville (seen at the bottom of the map) is a larger city in the central school district of Montgomery County and has sufficient churches for its community, however it does not have outreach to its neighboring small towns. Liberty Chapel fills in the need focusing its efforts not on the city, but making connections with these smaller communities.

Looking Ahead

Ronae has completely recovered from the virus she had gotten two weeks ago and is feeling great. She is beginning to have the "nesting" instinct as we anticipate our daughter's birth. Her official due date is May 11. We are working on last minute preparations and hope to give a quick update when Baby has been born.

We appreciate your continued prayers and support!
