Amber Leigh Sparks
Jan. 5, 1981-Oct. 3, 2014

Amber Leigh Sparks, 33, of Crawfordsville passed away Friday at University Hospital in Indianapolis after a two year battle with cancer.
She was born at Crawfordsville on Jan. 15, 1981, to Greg and Viki Ellingwood Powers.
Amber was a 2000 graduate of South Montgomery High School and a 2004 graduate of Franklin College. She was a kindergarten teacher at Ladoga Elementary School. She grew up in the Ladoga Christian Church and attended Liberty Chapel. Amber was a member of the Ladoga Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, Co-Chair of the Making Strides Cancer walk and two time Pace Setter for the walk. She was a former girls tennis and volleyball coach at Southmont, co-organized the Riley Read-athon at Ladoga Elementary raising $5,000 for the hospital. She also organized the Earth Day activities at the school. Amber was named the Dollars for Scholars Teacher of Excellence in 2013 for Southmont. She also loved traveling around the United States with her husband. 
She married Jon Sparks on June 25, 2011, and he survives. Also surviving are her parents Greg and Viki Powers; sister Stefanie (Kyle) Chappuis of Georgia; and brother Doug Powers of North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ladoga Elementary School with Pastor Allen Sparks officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Ladoga Elementary. 
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Amber Powers Sparks Scholarship Fund at the Montgomery County Community Foundation.
